Cathy J. Berry, M.D.
Dr. Berry received her Bachelor's degree at St. John's College and her Doctorate at Albany Medical College. Dr. Berry has been practicing in the Syracuse community for 13 years. Dr. Berry is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynocologists. The scope of her practice includes GYN surgery and obstetrics. Dr. Berry strives to provide quality care to her patients while empowering women to be proactive participators in their own health care. Her holistic approach to medicine includes developing a unique treatment plan for each patient that incorporates traditonal medicine, alternative therapies or combinations of both. She sees patients in the Syracuse and Baldwinsville offices. Dr. Berry resides in the Westcott area of Syracuse with her husband Nick and son Nicholas.

Theresa L. Bruneau, RN, FNP Nurse PractitionerTerry Bruneau is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years experience in women's health care. She is a graduate of Crouse School of Nursing and Community General Hospital's Nurse Practitioner Program. Terry is a wife and mother of 2 adult daughters. In her spare time she enjoys wild crafting, gardening and metaphysical studies. She is an herbalist, a reflexologist and has many years of experience working with and teaching a variety of energy healing modalities. Her goal is to empower those she works with to find their own well being by supporting whatever path they choose. Terry works out of the Baldwinsville office.

Charina Carissimi, BSN, MA Certified Nurse MidwifeCharina Carissimi graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1999 with an Associate in Applied Science Degree with a Major in Nursing. She completed her Baccalaureate of Science Degree in Nursing at SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2001. While at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Charina worked nights for Crouse Hospital in the Antepartum & Postpartum units and the Well Baby Nursery. In 2003 Charina graduated with her Master’s of Arts Degree in Nurse-Midwifery from New York University. Charina has worked as a traveling nurse in Labor and Delivery in Maryland and Virginia. She has worked as a midwife in the Albany area, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and in the South Bronx. While in the Bronx, Charina served mostly patients of the Hispanic culture. She used this opportunity to improve her skill with the Spanish language. Charina was born and raised in the Finger Lakes and looks forward to serving the women of Central New York.

Janet Ortolani, CNM
Janet Ortolani, CNM, has been a midwife for six years serving women in the New York metropolitan area and Long Island until recently relocating to the Syracuse area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stony Brook University and her Midwifery Certificate from Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Janet’s experience in Women’s Health began almost twenty years ago as a La Leche League Leader, Childbirth Educator, and Doula. Her experiences with childbearing women and families have served to reinforce her philosophies about the power of the birthing process and the impact childbirth has on a woman’s personal development. Through an emphasis on patient education and a holistic approach to patient care, Janet endeavors to encourage women to strive for their full potential. She is married with five children ranging in age from 25 to 14 years of age.

Jennifer Kohler, MS, FNP Nurse PractitionerJennifer Kohler, MS, FNP is a graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. She received her bachelor's and master's of science degrees from Syracuse University where she completed their family nurse practitioner program. Jennifer has been working in women's health for many years. She has also done additional work in the areas of postpartum depression, adolescent care and patient education. Her goal is to make her patients active participants in their care utilizing traditional, complementary and alternative therapies. Jennifer works out of the Syracuse and Baldwinsville offices.

Mary Ellen Woiler, RNC, MSN Nurse PractitionerMary Ellen Woiler received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Rochester, New York. Mary Ellen has been practicing for 24 years. She practices in the Syracuse office. Mary Ellen provides comprehensive women's health care to women of all ages. She performs colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, evaluation and treatment of menopausal and perimenopausal concerns. In addition, she provides prenatal care to the women who are enrolled in the Centering Pregnancy Program. Mary Ellen and her husband Steve, live in Dewitt, New York with their two children, Carolyn and Matthew.

On Call Coverage
The Providers of Cathy Berry, MD & Associates are extremely pleased to announce that we have entered into a call coverage agreement with Dr. Neulander's group. This new arrangement will benefit all of our patients by offering continuity with the philosophies and practices that you have become accustomed to with us throughout your pregnancy. Dr. Neulander’s practice has a very similar approach to women’s healthcare and education. He practices with Mary Thompson, CNP, CNM and Judy Butler, MSN, CNM who will only add to the birth experiences that we strive to provide our patients.
Dr. Neulander’s practice, Choices West, believes, "Patient education and options of treatment modalities are the corner stone of our practice philosophy. We encourage women to ask questions and provide them with the most up-to-date health care information available. Every woman is uniquely affected by her physical and emotional circumstances. - Dr. M. Robert Neulander has been providing women and their families with innovative health care for over twenty years - from OB-GYN and advanced endoscopic and laser surgery to infertility treatments and menopause management. Dr. Neulander, who has long championed controversial causes like the support of midwives, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, has incorporated non-traditional treatment and modern medicine under one roof.
Mary Thompson, CNP, CNM
- As a Certified Perinatal Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife, Mary's career in Nursing and Midwifery encompasses more than 25 years of practice in both Great Britain and The United States.
